AEROSMITH
"America's greatest rock and roll band."
THE STORY
Aerosmith formed in Boston in 1970, five teenagers who would go on to become one of the best-selling rock bands of all time. Steven Tyler's screaming vocals and Joe Perry's bluesy guitar work gave them a raw, dangerous edge that set them apart from their contemporaries.
After a period of decline in the late 70s due to substance abuse, Aerosmith staged one of rock's greatest comebacks. Their collaboration with Run-DMC on 'Walk This Way' in 1986 introduced them to a new generation and helped bridge the gap between rock and hip-hop.
Their late 80s and 90s output — 'Permanent Vacation', 'Pump', and 'Get a Grip' — produced some of their biggest hits and proved they were more than a nostalgia act. 'I Don't Want to Miss a Thing' became their only #1 hit in 1998.
